Performance Spaces

Macomber Community House
930 Main Road

Exterior view of the Macomber Community House “The Westport Friends Meeting built this building in 1934 as a community center where people could gather for lectures, suppers, classes, plays, musical events and so on.” (Maiocco and Ledoux, 1995) The main room is a comfortable large space with a brick fireplace. In recent years it has been used for small concerts, experimental multi-media events, craft shows, modern dance rehearsals, exercise and yoga classes as well as performances and readings. The adjacent kitchen allows ease in serving refreshments. There is a stage at one end. The building is used every Sunday by the Friends Meeting. In the late spring and early summer it is used full time to store and sort the books for the annual Friends Book Sale. There are tables and chairs that can be folded and stored to create an open space. Contact the Clerk of the Meeting to discuss your ideas and to learn about any restrictions and expenses related to the use of the facility.
