February 2, 2006:

  • The volume of space for each of the Bench-Marks, including landscaping, should not exceed 20 feet by 15 feet by 10 feet high. They do not have to fill that space.
  • Bench-Mark #2 will be moved to the south side of the Kirkaldy House, adjacent to the historic shed and under a tree. This change is to accommodate the future development of the property. However, the new location is in an area that will not be changed by any development plans. The photo on the left is the view of the shed from Main Road. The photo on the right is a closer view of the shed from the driveway.

  • Bench-Mark #4 has many more people registered than the other Bench-Marks. Competitors are advised that there will be less competition in any of the other 4 locations.
  • Bench-Mark #5 has some new information. Competitors can now choose an alternative site on the north side of the narrow path leading to the house. The new factor is the placement of the large store sign close to where the Bench-Mark is now located. The design must not block sign visibility from road view. Please include a sketch of the sign with the Bench-Mark. Also, the design may have to be adjusted to fit the landscape plan that will not be available until after April 3. Note the plan of the area for Bench-Mark 5 and a drawing of the sign (below).

December 9, 2005. Bench-Mark #3 is being developed in cooperation with the Westport Police Union. The photo of the bronze sculpture to the right is the design that the Police Union will acquire. It is 2/3 life size, the adult figure is 4 feet tall.

December 3, 2005. The Bench-Mark signs have been installed in each of the 5 locations for the winning designs. Thanks to the Diman Regional Vocational High School students who produced and installed the signs.
