Fundraising - Designing the Village
|
|
|
How will the Bench-Mark installations be funded?
The Westport Arts Council has awarded $5,000 from the Helen E. Ellis Charitable Trust to launch the project. Fundraising through events and donations will raise at least $10,000 in cash and another $10,000 in in-kind services for the installation of the award winning designs. If funded, a proposal to the Mass Cultural Council would provide additional money for the installations.

Fundraising details:
There are three major fund raising components:
- A mailing to potential sponsors to underwrite the design and construction of the Bench-Marks was sent in November. Sponsors will be invited to a sneak preview of all the submissions in June after the jury has selected the winners.
- A celebratory Family Concert will be followed by an auction in Central Village on Saturday July 8, 2006. It take place in the area around the Town Hall Annex. It will be held rain or shine, using the gymnasium if it rains. This will be held in the late afternoon, on the same day as the annual Friend’s Book Fair.
- A grant has been submitted to the Massachusetts Cultural Council Arts and Economic Development program. If funded, it will help underwrite costs of the installations as well as year round arts events in Central Village.
